Like a lot of people, my relationship with food wasn't always about hunger.
I ate when I was stressed.
I ate when I was happy.
I ate when I was depressed.
Sometimes, I simply ate because the food was there.
Over time, those habits caught up with me.
I reached a point where I knew I couldn't just keep doing the same thing and expect a different result.
Something had to change.
So I decided to start learning — not just about losing weight, but about food, nutrition and the habits behind the choices I was making.
That was the beginning of my Health Reset.
“I didn't need another quick fix. I needed to change the way I thought about food.”
One of the biggest changes I've made is learning to look at food differently.
I used to look at food mainly in terms of whether I liked it, whether I was hungry, or whether it was convenient.
Now I'm learning to ask different questions.
What's actually in this?
How processed is it?
What does the evidence tell us?
Does this fit with the way I want to eat?
I've become particularly interested in nutrition, processed foods and ultra-processed foods, and how the choices we make every day can affect our health and our ability to lose weight.
But I'm not here to tell you that I've figured everything out.
I'm learning as I go.
Some things I've believed have changed as I've learned more. Some ideas sound great until you look a little deeper. And sometimes the answer isn't as simple as a headline or a social-media video makes it sound.
That's what TRAEHEART is about — learning, questioning and making better-informed choices.
And I'm taking you along for the journey.
Don't just follow the advice. Learn to understand it.
The biggest thing I've learned is that change doesn't happen overnight.
It happens through lots of small decisions.
One meal.
One walk.
One workout.
One better choice.
Then another.
When I started this journey, I weighed 330 lbs. Today I'm at 254 lbs.
That's 76 lbs lost.
I'm proud of that, but the number on the scales isn't the whole story.
I'm learning how to make better choices, build habits I can actually live with, and look at my health differently.
The goal isn't perfection. It's progress.
And I'm still moving forward.
I know this journey isn't finished yet.
Losing weight has been a big part of my Health Reset, but for me, it's never been just about losing weight.
I want to keep learning about nutrition, understand my relationship with food better, and build habits that I can continue for the rest of my life.
I'm also learning that being healthy doesn't mean getting everything right all the time. There will be good days, difficult days and days when I make choices I'd do differently.
And that's okay.
What matters is that I don't give up. I learn from it, make the next choice and keep moving forward.
My goal isn't simply to reach a certain number on the scales. It's to become healthier, stronger and more confident in the choices I make — and to understand why those choices matter.
And as I continue learning, I'll keep sharing what I discover here on TRAEHEART.
This is my Health Reset. And the journey continues.
The Health Reset doesn't end here.
I'm continuing to learn, experiment, make changes and share what I discover along the way.
On the TRAEHEART YouTube channel, I share the real journey — from the foods I'm eating and the things I'm learning about nutrition, to the challenges, successes and decisions that come with changing the way I live.
If you're working on your own Health Reset, perhaps you'll find something here that helps you along the way.
Come along for the journey.
